The planning and packing has begun. I’ll admit, when my dad mentioned ‘camping’ in the mountains in Tennessee, there was one family member who was less then enthused. Roughing it, in 80 degree weather is NOT my idea of a dream trip. “Dad, haven’t you always wanted to tour Napa or see London? I specifically remember you saying when I was 12 that you would like to visit California one day, and that is where Napa is…no…, you don’t remember that”. Dang!
I don’t even know how to shop for clothes for camping, should I even get a pedicure, what about my hair, do I need hiking shoes?
And did you guys know that when you rent an RV you have to bring your own towels, sheets, blankets, toilet paper, etc. Jeez they obviously don’t know my issues with laundry (I think this means I have to do some) and who has extra sheets laying around?? I either threw ours away because we were running out of space or used them for drop cloths when I was painting. Well, at least I get to shop for something.
Of course this is all slightly exaggerated – kinda ;-), and at this point, if my dad wanted to hike to each camp site with tents strapped to our backs, build a fire with sticks and catch our own dinner, I would do it with a smile on my face. And (yes, I’m gonna start my sentences with and, but, whatever the heck I want – It is my blog so there) after doing the research, and seeing how cool the RV looks, and how awesome some of the places we are going look, I am supper excited!
The funny thing about my dad, and what makes him so special, is that when asked what his dream trip would be, he said “anything with the family, whatever you guys want to do as along as we are together”. This is typical Jerry ~ it is all about the family. When asked what he would want at Christmas, Father’s Day, His Birthday, etc.; his reply always was / and always will be the same “Just for you, Troy, and your mom to be healthy and happy (of course now that includes Lillian, Andrea and Greg)” “Having you as a daughter, is the best gift I could have” ;-)
But even after all that mushy stuff he still wanted to go camping ~ so here we go, on one wild ride!
Hope you all create TONS of amazing memories. It's going to be great! :-)
